Tim mcmillan & FRIENDS
Musicians are often assigned a specific genre, tucked away in a drawer and dug out when needed. The difficulty in slotting Tim McMillan into any category has led to his self styled genre 'Goblincore' which helps in some way to describe the unique and uncoventional approach to his compositions. Tim combines a variety of styles from folk, jazz, classical, blues and a pinch of metal in his music. The guitarist knows not only how to break the genre boundaries, he is also a virtuoso on his instrument, an exceptional artist. His lively performances, sense of humor and his ability to inspire the audience have made him a popular live artist. In his native Australia, Tim has won numerous awards, including the Maton Young Guitarist of the Year and Cole Clark & Ben Harper Guitar Award for Best Instrumentalist. With the distinctive mix of various styles he has played both solo and accompanied by his band in Europe (his current residence), Japan, India and Latin America and has recently played with guitar legends such as Al Di Meola, Dominic Miller (Sting) and Kaki King. Tim is now sponsored by Cole Clark Guitars.
...Some very beautiful and original guitar music... Jonsi, Sigur Ros
...Great playing, with really nice harmonies and a cool performance style... Al Di Meola
The Australian plays Toto's "Africa" in acid-American bossa nova rhythm, then this quickly mashes the piece into a hiphop nod to "Stairway to Heaven".
